St. Paul's Vestry

Vestry

Leadership of Episcopal churches is shared between Bishop, Rector, and Vestry. The Vestry consists of twelve elected members of our church, who each serve three-year terms. The Vestry has specific oversight of certain areas – such as parish finances, income, and expenditure. The group also serves as the key council of advice and consultation, as the parish engages with both present needs and future development. Full minutes of each meeting can be found posted on a hallway bulletin board.

These documents are the legal, canonical, and policy basis for the Vestry’s work:

  • Washington DC Vestry Act (1970)
  • Episcopal Church Canon 14: Of Parish Vestries
  • Diocese of Washington Canon 25: Of Matters to be Contained in Bylaws of Parishes
  • Bylaws of St. Paul’s Parish
  • Policies of St. Paul’s Vestry
